Teaching Experience
I enjoy teaching and want to motivate students to undertake scientific careers. During fall 2021 I was the Teaching Assistant for “Introduction to Water Resources Engineering” (CEE350) at UIUC. Apart from hosting regular office hours, grading/preparing assignments, data projects, and exams, I had to conduct introductory workshops on QGIS and R.
I also taught the course module on “Open Channel Hydraulics” which was my first time being on the other side of the podium. I not only put myself in the shoes of the instructor, but also understood the students perspective. I was able to deliver the course material by building it from Newton’s second law which everyone was comfortable with. The teaching experience was rewarding and I would love to teach another course in future. Based on student feedback, I was among the list of “Teachers ranked as excellent” for Fall 2021.
